Vietnam's tourism industry is shifting towards personalized and culturally rich experiences, especially as younger travelers seek deeper, more meaningful journeys rather than traditional sightseeing. Trends such as workcations and digital nomadism are growing, requiring the sector to move away from mass-market services and focus on individualized, authentic tourism. This change demands a workforce equipped with strategic thinking and innovation.

The sector currently faces a talent shortage, with only 20,000 of the 40,000 new workers needed annually being supplied, and less than half of the current workforce professionally trained. British University Vietnam (BUV) addresses this gap through its practice-driven Tourism Management program, validated by Bournemouth University and globally ranked. Students engage in field trips, industry projects, and internships with top hospitality brands, gaining practical experience in areas like sustainable tourism and destination management.

BUV graduates are recognized for their professionalism and readiness, with 100% employment or continued study rate within three months of graduation.

Japan holds the world's second most powerful passport, allowing visa-free access to 190 destinations, yet fewer Japanese, particularly young people, are traveling abroad. According to the Newt travel app, only 17.5% of Japanese citizens currently have passports—a rate far below other developed nations like Taiwan (60%), the U.S. (50%), and South Korea (40%).

This decline is attributed to the weakened yen, which has depreciated by 35%, making international travel unaffordable for many. Rising airfare costs and growing fears over safety, including gun violence and tourist-targeted crimes, have further discouraged overseas trips. As a result, many Japanese are choosing to travel domestically instead.

Passport ownership in Japan had already been low before the pandemic, hovering around 22–24% in the 2010s, and it fell even more during pandemic. Experts are calling for government support to encourage global engagement, such as offering free passports to first-time travelers.

Meanwhile, Japan remains a top destination for global tourists, having received 21.5 million foreign visitors in the first half of the year—a 21% increase compared to the same period last year.

Bandarlampung, the capital of Indonesia's Lampung Province, received a world record certificate for creating the largest 'sekubal' cake during the "Lampung Traditional Culinary and Street Food Festival" on July 27. Certified by the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI), the cake measured 25 meters long and 25 centimeters in diameter. This achievement marked the city's 343rd founding anniversary and involved collaboration among local authorities, communities, and small businesses.

More than a record attempt, the event highlighted Indonesia's tradition of mutual cooperation and efforts to preserve local culture. 'Sekubal' is a traditional Lampung dish made from glutinous rice and coconut milk, wrapped in banana leaves, and steamed. It is often served during celebrations like Eid al-Fitr.

Heart-friendly breakfasts can help people with cardiovascular disease manage cholesterol and blood pressure effectively. Dr. Nguyen Anh Duy Tung from Nutrihome Nutrition Center recommends meals low in LDL cholesterol, sodium, and saturated fats. Suitable foods include oats, whole grain bread, unsweetened plant-based milk, boiled eggs, and fresh fruits.

Oats, rich in beta-glucan, reduce cholesterol absorption and support blood sugar control. Whole grain bread provides fiber, B vitamins, and minerals that help regulate blood pressure and vascular health. Unsweetened plant-based milk like almond or soy offers unsaturated fats and antioxidants. Boiled eggs supply quality protein and lecithin but should be eaten in moderation by those with lipid issues. Fresh fruits such as apples and bananas provide fiber, potassium, and antioxidants, aiding heart function and blood pressure control.

Dr. Tung advises avoiding processed, oily, or sugary breakfast items and emphasizes regular health checkups, maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding tobacco and alcohol, and following prescribed medication. Natural supplements like GDL-5 from sugarcane wax may further help reduce cholesterol and lower atherosclerosis risk.

A baby elephant has been spotted in the Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area in central Da Nang, signaling positive progress in conserving Vietnam's endangered Asian elephants. The calf, about one year old, was captured on a camera trap on July 8, 2025, in the Na Lau area, moving alongside its mother. This discovery highlights successful natural reproduction and the effectiveness of conservation efforts by the Da Nang Special-Use Forest Management Board in protecting the habitat and reducing human-elephant conflict.

Established in 2017, the conservation area spans nearly 19,000 hectares and initially had 5–7 wild elephants. A similar baby elephant sighting was reported in 2020 with support from USAID's Green Annamites project. The herd now includes mature males, females, and calves, bringing the total population to nine.
