Where to Eat in New Orleans
I'm John Besh and these are a few of my favorite spots in New Orleans.
I just love Willa Jean, Kelly Fields in particular.
So Kelly does this grain bowl, which is a mixture of a number of different grains,
with some legumes. And it 's always evolving. Always changing.
Sylvetta arugula and radishes, just finished with a little vinaigrette and a poached egg or two on top.
And I'm in breakfast heaven, brother.
Pêche is a great joint just down the street. Grilled fish on a wood - burning grill.
They 're always gonna have a fresh fish. Something local. Small red fish work really good.
Rubbed with a little bit of olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper. That's it.
It's all about grilling on the wood flame. That, with a little salsa verde over the top.
And it's really something I think perfect for the table.
So my favorite thing about Pêche is you get a little bit of everything,
and one of those things has to be the whole grilled fish. Unbelievably good.
La Petite Grocery is this great uptown gem run by a good friend of mine, Justin Devillier.
He creates these beautiful little crab meat truffles, and then batters them, fries them
and so they're crispy on the outside, golden brown. It's the one perfect bite in New Orleans.
