SoftBank will invest $2 billion into Intel

SoftBank will invest $2 billion in Intel by purchasing shares at $23 each, causing Intel's stock to jump 6% in after-hours trading. This move follows reports that the U.S. government may also buy a 10% stake in Intel, valued around $10.5 billion. Once a leader in the semiconductor industry, Intel has recently struggled to keep pace with competitors.

Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan, who took charge in March, has been leading a turnaround effort that includes cutting 15% of the company's workforce, nearly completed last month. Tan recently met with President Donald Trump, who praised his career and called the meetingvery interesting.”

SoftBank's investment signals growing confidence in Intel's recovery, while government involvement could provide further stability for the struggling chipmaker.

Southeast Asian city named world's second safest for female digital nomads

A report by holidu.co.uk ranked Chiang Rai, Thailand, as the world's second safest city for female digital nomads, behind Taipei. The ranking, done with Nomads.com, assessed 200 popular cities using factors like safety when walking alone at night, friendliness toward women and foreigners, gender ratio among digital nomads, and workplace protections against harassment.

Other Southeast Asian cities, including Penang in Malaysia and Ubud in Indonesia, also made the top 10. Thai authorities attributed Chiang Rai's high ranking to stronger security measures, improved coordination among agencies, Tourist Assistance Centers, and Tourist Police support.

The Thai government said the recognition reflects world-class safety standards in its tourist cities, reinforcing Thailand's appeal to digital nomads, especially women.

Inflation has increased. The price of Olive Garden'sNever Ending Pasta Bowl' hasn't

Olive Garden is bringing back itsNever Ending Pasta Bowlon August 25 for $13.99, holding the same price for the fourth straight year despite industry-wide cost hikes. Customers can enjoy unlimited pasta combinations, soup or salad, and breadsticks until November 16. While restaurant menu prices have surged over 30% since 2020, Olive Garden only raised its prices by 2% last year, yet still saw profits climb 12.7% in the latest quarter.

Analysts say the chain makes the deal work by encouraging diners to buy extra items like appetizers, desserts, and drinks, while also benefiting from bulk supplier deals. Because not all customers eat more than $13 worth of pasta, the promotion remains profitable overall.

Launched in 1995, the promotion has become a staple, especially appealing to families during back-to-school season when budgets are tight. Olive Garden's focus on value, including its buy-one-get-one meal deal, has boosted sales by nearly 7% recently.

Other chains are also leaning into value deals to attract cost-conscious diners. Applebee's reversed eight quarters of sales declines with its2 for $25deal, while BJ's, Red Robin, and Chili's have all reported positive results from similar promotions.

Overall, Olive Garden's strategy reflects a broader trend in casual dining: offering affordability to draw customers back from fast food while maintaining profitability.
