Oscar Piastri won the rain-delayed Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, extending his Formula One championship lead over McLaren teammate Lando Norris. The race began under a safety car due to heavy rain, with racing only starting after lap four. Piastri, who started second, overtook Norris on the first racing lap with a bold move out of turn one. He maintained the lead by managing his tires well as the track dried.
Although Norris chose more durable tires and pushed hard, mistakes and a slow pit stop cost him. He finished over three seconds behind and acknowledged the difficulty of leading in wet conditions, especially with a headwind and slippery track. Norris now trails Piastri by 16 points in the standings.
Piastri, who last won in Spain, was pleased with his performance and strategy. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc finished third. The next race is the Hungarian Grand Prix.
